School-Linked provides out-of-school care to Westmount Elementary students in Strathmore, Alberta.
We aspire to be an exemplary, powerful learning community, and we are committed to ensuring an inclusive, collaborative thinking culture.
WHY & HOW WE WORK
The School-Linked program encourages, respects, and supports our students, the school, and the community. We promote fun, safety, and learning to the highest standard. Our convenient and flexible out-of-school care programs offer students and parents solutions to manage time, learning, and life outside the classroom.
Above all else we are a team. Our School-Linked team works together, and alongside parents, to provide the best quality program for the children in our care. We believe in the 3 R’s to guide design and implementation of the program and curriculum: Respect, Responsibility, Right.
WHO WE ARE
Becca Ness - I've lived in Strathmore for 12 years and feel proud to call it home. I love the sense of community here and how everyone is so friendly and kind. I have been in the Early Childhood Education field for seven years and love the small impact you can make on a child’s life. Even if it is as simple as a smile, helping them learn something new, or making them feel like they belong. It brings me joy to know that I can impact a child in a positive way and get to be a part of their learning, and growing process. I am married and hope to have my own children in the future. In my spare time, I enjoy fishing, gardening, baking, camping, traveling, and hanging out with the cows at my in-law’s farm. I am very excited to be the Director of School-Linked and to see our “Linked Family” grow.
Tessa - Hello I am Tessa! I have been working with children and youth for almost eight years. I began my journey volunteering at the YMCA of Calgary, then got the opportunity to work in child minding, teach preschool and be the lead coordinator for their summer day camps. I moved to Strathmore in 2015 and began in a childcare facility, then moved on to run a day home for three years. I wanted to expand my experience with older youth and mental health. I worked in a small family home assisting youth to stabilize their mental health, learn coping skills, and life skills to move to their next step in life. I enjoy yoga, art, photography, and taking care of my eleven animals. I am excited to be working with SchoolLinked, playing, and learning everyday. Working with children brings me joy and keeps me youthful.
Kim - Hello, my name is Kim Betournay and it is a privilege and honor to be part of the School Linked program for 2020-2021 school year. I love little people and I am super excited to be part of the team. I have been a resident of Strathmore for 11 years and have been helping children for the past 22 years. I am married and have 5 children and 2 grandchildren. I am a level 3 child development supervisor and also have a diploma in child and youth care with a variety of certifications working with children with special needs. Working and teaching children is my passion and I am excited to be part of your child’s early years of school. I look forward to an exciting year.
